The Savior Divide

The high torrent of a single wave

Is not always here to stay,

For the damp sandy shoreline

Provides an impassable divide

Between the ultimately free

And what we deem civilized.

But as a fish roams

In its undemanding sphere,

My inner soul sheds a tear

Upon seeing necessary predation

Exert on the fish fear.

And that alone can be the reason why

We hold dear the shoreline.
