Saviors Need Saving Too (Part 1)
My mother is my world. And she's conquered a lot.
She's made many sacrifices and gives her children all she's got.
Long ago when it was just her and I,
Her energy was low, and I felt the pain in her eyes.
We were all alone and it was time for bed,
4 years old, I couldn't sleep so I admired my mother instead.
But this night she was different, and so were the bottles.
Her normal medication for sore muscles and achy joints,
Accompanied by an unfamiliar capsule.
She eyed the clock on the wall,
Adding that pill this night,
But every thirty minutes
She added another to her mouth
She thought that I was sleeping,
Or I didn't know what she had done.
But after the third add, I got out of bed and ran into her arms.
"Mommy stop it! Stop it Please"
"I love and need you mommy, don't take anymore of these."
I hugged her tight as she put the bottle down,
She hugged me back as her tears slowly slid down.
I saved my mother's life that night,
And I'm so grateful that I did,
16 years laters, lessons learned and we're still here....
