Sawyer S.
This poem is for Sawyer S. You saved my life, and I am eternally grateful
On the bus ride home
From a church field trip
We talked and talked
And I ended up telling you
Everything
The overdoses, the hospitals
And how I didn't want to live
You reached for my hand and held it
I grasped yours like a drowning man would grasp a lifeline
For hours we stayed like that
You let me just talk
Getting everything out in the open
And we both cried
I now know that there is someone who cares about me
Someone who won't let go
You truly saved my life
Thank you
