Say Goodbye to the Heroes

“Everything will be fine.”

Mom will say.

My hero yet again saves the day.

I smile as my world is redesigned.

Years go by...

I walk down the driveway-

Mail in hand, but barely able to stand.

I open the door-

Laundry, dishes, shopping.

All these things I must do.

The people crowd me.

Overwhelming me

I grump and grouch,

But suddenly silence.

She looks so small.

The weight of the world cushes her.

I hear her words-

Choices, seperation, broken.

I understand.

I hold her.

Like she did me, once upon a time.

“Everything will be fine.”

I will say.

I realize nothing is fine.
