Saying Goodbye

G The beginning is always new and exciting, Simply full of laughter, warm and inviting. Amidst all the chaos and endless fun, You forget that eventually it all will be done. O Walking through those doors on your very first day, Big kids shouting to stay out of their way. High school seemed like such a terrifying place, Too much homework, at too quick a pace. O The first year winds down and you start to feel at home, New friends and nice teachers help you not feel alone. Then sophomore year blurs by, now in the past, As you count down the days, trying to grow up at last. D Junior year starts and ends just the same, It feels like forever with only time to blame. Before you know it, the first day of senior year is here, As you walk through those doors again, this time with no fear. B It does not hit you cheering at your last football game, Nor at your last tennis match, your ten minutes of fame. It still does not hit you as you finally walk across that stage… The last few years have flown by in a haze. Y No, it finally hits you as you hug your friends goodbye, All the laughter and memories bubble up to make you cry. You knew this day was coming but how could you prepare? The grand moment you have been waiting for brings both joy and despair. E Your journey through high school has taught you to grow, But college is next so move on with the show. With all the great friends and memories, the laughs and the tears, It is time to say goodbye to those amazing four years.
