SC Stands For Serious Corrections

You want to ameliorate South Carolina? Well here are my suggestions,

But before I recommend anything, it would behoove me to ask these questions:

If South Carolina truly wants to improve, then why does it apply

An inhumane death penalty, in which people are sentenced to die?

Maybe we don’t inflict painful deaths like death by electrocution,

But lethal injection is still a form of execution!

We say to keep civilians safe, death just has to be some people’s fate

And yet the death penalty doesn’t even lower the homicide rate!

A life of incarceration is pretty rough!

Why oh why, South Carolina, is that not punishment enough?

If South Carolina wants to better itself, why is it discriminating by race?

When searching for a job, ethnicity is half the chase!

I thought we had established that there is no difference between white and black,

So why on earth are we bringing racism back?

Our work places should grant equal opportunity

To all people —regardless of race— in the South Carolina community.

People can’t even safely drive to their destination—

South Carolina’s got the number two worst drivers in the nation!

Perhaps it’s time to toughen the driver’s test

Because the problem most likely resides in how drivers are assessed.

In regard to pollution,

South Carolina desperately needs to find a solution.

In states with the worst water quality, South Carolina earned 7^th place.

Have you seen our beaches these days? It really is a disgrace!

Is it really that hard to pick up your trash?

I bet more people would, if the reward was cash.

In states with the best school systems, South Carolina ranks 42.

Come on South Carolina— is education not important to you?

You’re investing in the minds of the future, so stop being cheap.

Keep in mind that what you sow, you will reap!

Guess where South Carolina fell on the list of states with the worst economy,

It sits at number 46 pathetically and solemnly.

South Carolina has a poverty rate above 17%.

If we don’t do anything about it, we can only expect its descent.

South Carolina has an unemployment rate of 6.6,

And that number only worsens as the clock ticks.

If we create more jobs, we can kill several birds with one stone,

And then no one will be left hungry, homeless and alone.

You want to ameliorate South Carolina? I’ve finished making my suggestions.
