Scars

     Scars

  • You asked to see my scars so I showed the ones on my wrists, arms, and my legs. I told you those were the only ones, that was the first lie I ever told you
  • You wanted to know what I mean so I told you
  • I said, “Most of my scars are inside.”
  • But now that you're not here the scars are permanent leaving holes in my body, the ones you used to fill.
  • Maybe one day you’ll come back or maybe you won’t
  • Sometimes when I sleep I can hear my demons screaming in pain and terror and I used to be so scared but now they’re my only friends.
  • They fill the holes in me with sorrow but it's better than the weight of emptiness.
  • Help me just with one scar, the one you made.
