Scars

She can hide the bruises;
She can cover the scars.

But she can't hide her broken heart.

Locked in her closet,
afraid and alone
No one can hear her cry,
how can this hell be home?

How can you stop him
when he is so much bigger?

He said "you'll always be my baby girl"
Now what am I to figure?

How can you hurt someone that you claim to love?

How can you hit me?
How can you kick and shove?

It's been years and the bruises have all but strayed;
but the night terrors and fear remains just the same.

I never knew you could be so cold
to hit your own childred who, in fear, they just fold.

You might not think what you did was all that bad,
but I will NEVER be proud to call you my Dad.
