Scary Nights

The slurred words

They drip from your mouth

Mostly sugar coated lies

Almost believable

But not quiet

Nobody can believe them

Violence around me

Objects being thrown

Loud voices

From all around the house

Hectic

Like a tornado

Scrambling to escape

To leave

To be safe and free

To protect

The person that means most

You’re younger brother

That’s your world

Your everything

You’d rather have the violence

And slurred lies

Thrown at you

Rather than him

Go through hell

Go through anything you needed

Just to keep him safe

But this is unmatched

Inescapable loop
