Scenes From a Side Street Cafe

Sat, 04/20/2019 - 19:13 -- M.M.Ney

She came around the corner

As I stood on my phone

My eyes met hers and I was no longer alone

We talked for hours in that side street cafe

Until they kicked us out to close for the day

We sat in your car as the sleet came down

All around us in that little town

You needed to leave it was getting bad

I hugged you once and I was glad

We talked so more and we hugged again

I opened your door and struggled to leave

The rain came down and it started to freeze

I walked towards my truck I had to look back

I knew at that moment my life was on track

In my memory I will always remember that day

Forever will be memories in that Side Stree Cafe

This poem was about me meeting someone I at the time thought was amazing, everythig turned out to be lies, but I think it illustrates the human connection and the ability to desire even if only for moments.
