Scent

the smell of insanity is not as foul as one would assume

petrichor - the smell of dirt after rain, or a rose in full bloom

it compels you and invites you to take several deep breaths

you inhale and it fills you till there is nothing else left

those on the outside sniff and wrinkle their nose

but they aren’t breathing your air so what do they know

the scent seeps in through your pores and envelops your soul

others will try to save you, but you finally feel whole

though there might be times when you catch a foul fume

the smell of insanity is not as foul as one would assume
