Scholarship Hopes
I learn a lot about myself,
When I write things down.
I like to express how I’m feeling,
And when it rhymes I like the sound.
Poetry has taught me,
That writing can be fun.
It doesn’t have to end so seriously,
When the poem is done.
I like to make a poem have meaning,
And even make it funny.
So I’m going to tell you a little tale,
And hopefully win some money…..
..…
Once upon a time,
In a small rural town.
Lived a girl named Danielle,
Who would never frown.
I was such a happy little girl,
I couldn’t wait to go to school.
To learn everything I could,
And follow all the rules.
And as I grew,
So did my smile.
It would go on,
For a million miles.
I smiled when I played my trumpet,
In-between the blows.
And on the field in marching band,
Rockin’ my solos.
I smiled as I skied,
Believing in the hopes.
That the mountains would never end,
I just love it on the slopes.
I smiled as I wrote,
Definitely in my glory.
And in my young life I’ve completed,
Two full-length dramatic stories.
I think I even smiled,
While deep in my dreams.
Nothing could make me frown,
Or so it would have seemed.
Until one day when I grew up more,
Around eighteen years of age.
I saw the price of college tuition,
And fell into a rage.
My smile was gone!
And I laid around like a sack.
…But winning this scholarship sure would help,
To bring my smile back. :)
