School

Pencils placed in pouches,

Books placed on shelves,

My brain is full of spider webs-

From a summer spent so well.

Time to get to work,

And register for classes.

The days are getting darker still,

Soon evenings will be spent reading,

Math done at the kitchen table,

Science at the counter,

Reading for English by the fireplace,

History on the bed -wrapped in blankets.

No more barefoot runs through the forest,

No more outdoor movie nights,

New school clothes washed and ready,

Backpack hung near the door with care,

Stuffed pencil pouches and books right beside,

My brain is cleaned of spider webs-

From knowledge crammed inside.
