In School

In school we learn things, we learn basics like math and shapes. We learn to read and count and make words, but that's not all we learn.

I learned this year that I should join clubs because "it looks good on a resume and scholarships".

I learned this year that suicide is real and loosing someone can hurt. I learned how to lose my little brother.

I learned this year that I'm just a bunch of numbers. I'm not a human I'm a 2.9 GPA, 64% on class work, 70% attendance, 4 year singer, 1 semester Oscar winner.

I learned this year that teachers hurt too. I saw a school come together one tragedy after another.

I learned this year about the hospital, and being left overnight because of a mental breakdown during state testing.

I learned this year what's it's like to have your best friend leaving for college and you won't see them every day anymore.

I learned this year what it's really like in life, the sick awful truths behind the real world, and I still have to survive senior year.
