School Bus

I keep finding myself referring to the place I am at as home

But if that's true then why does my body rattle

With sobs when I go back to the place that used to be mine

Two lonely places lingering in the distance

Both waiting for me with open eyes

And here I am on an old bus traveling back

And forth for what seems like eternity

The person beside me sleeps as if nothing is wrong with where we are

And I find myself looking out into the ever moving

Distance of the places between past and future

Longing to be in your arms like I was yesterday

Regretting telling you my sorrows and making my sadness yours

I should be thankful that I can take this bus to tomorrow and not be trapped in yesterday where you will be forever

So I close my eyes

and let the gentle rocking of the bus pull me to sleep
