School’s for Fools

I wish that I had the will to learn

I wish I had something for me to yearn

My life is a mess as I write

I mgiht make a spelling error

I m ig ht mess up my spa cing

My heart is internally racing

The heart in which I wear upon my pencil

The pencil of my speech

Condemned by those that

Base my learning on what I can’t do.

If Einstein said “a fish should not be judged

On its ability to climb a tree,”

Then why am I categorized by letters

that judge my ability

to calculate the distance of the Sun from Mars when it is at

Its final rotation.

Or how to analyze a quotation

I wish my childhood wonder

Had not wandered away

I wish I had the will to learn.
