Scraps

How much can
I take? The drinks
don't drown me like
I hope they would.

You killed me when
you killed us. You
broke me down
when you dropped me for
diamonds.

I don't shine or sparkle
like they do.
The perfection on your plate
isn't something
to which I compare.

The competition was too
tough, too close.
But the jewels in your pocket
aren't enough,
they're nothing compared
to my love.
