Skritch Scratch

Goes my pencil across the paper

Goes my dreams across my councious

Written over and under

Weaving a precausionary basket

to catch my tears when the dreams die

"What do you want be"

They ask

A broken refain on a broken record

Said to a broken mind

An artist

A physicist

An austronaut

A lawyer

Each time a new dream incribed

Each day an old dream dies

Some days I don't know

All days I don't know

Every day they think I know

Think I have a plan

A path carved with graphite

Graphite and sweat and tears

But all I have is a map

Devoid of any land marks

And the bleached bones

The remains of my dreams

Crunching beneath my feet.
