Scratches and Bruises

Do you ever miss the scratches and bruises you got as a child? How even though you just busted your ass you were still able to get up, dust it off and go on playing joyfully? At that age it seemed like we were so focused on what made us happy that a little scratch wouldn't upset us. But now as we grow older the scratches and bruises that used to be on the outside are inside. And unlike the small cuts we got as a child these are wounds that take some time to heal, these are battle scars that can't be fixed with a bandaid, we are forced to wrap them and carry on as the blood slowly soaks the bandages. But isn't that apart of being an adult, we are supposed to take the stresses of life and keep going on, it's like were walking through a battle field and keep getting hit over and over again. Although, the reason we are able to make it out of that war is because the same joy that allowed us to get back up as a kid is still in us, we know there is something so sweet on the other side worth fighting for. So those scratches and bruises turn to scars, no medals we wear to show how we made it threw. ~A.M
