screaming silence

I want you to love me like I love you

In that soft, cushioned, unrequited sense

It wouldn’t be the same for you

I love you like the astronaut loves the stars

I love you like the trees love the earth

I love you like the Romans loved the gods

Violently, desperately, tragically

I was never the prettiest girl in the room

But I was always the insane one

Teetering on the edge of everyone’s favorite ghost

And a monster filled with feminine rage

I screamed

And no one heard a sound.
