The Sea
Oh I’d like to go down to the sea and the surf,
To feel the sand, the wind, and the waves,
Salty air takes me away my care, a boat me away from the turf;
And if it be a sailboat I shall not think twice,
Over the tide, rhythm, and rhyme,
To bring me that peace even a breeze will suffice;
For it is out on the sea away from the land,
My spirit takes flight like a bird,
Gliding along, the freedom I feel is so grand;
Sails full of wind are the angels’ wings spread about,
At the sun I stare; God is there,
It’s an awakening I cannot live without;
With the wind blowing through my hair it is a prayer,
And I feel at one with the sea,
For her powerful rare ride fair makes me go there;
Then back to the shore, to land I stand in the sand,
And look out to the sea and dream,
Of a sweet song I sing along, the waves my band.
