Sea and River

My hands pour out a tidal wave of words

The text, a tsunami

Powerful, raging, invincible

My mouth is a river bed run dry

I go to speak

But only a mere stream is procured

I yearn for the strength of my writing

I wish for it to sweep the sediment of fear away

With a great white flood

I irrigate

I bring the waters of my hands

To my mouth’s drought

I remember the confidence of the current

Found in the written word

And vocalize it

I go to speak

And feel an ebb and flow

It is not thrumming yet

But it is constant

The lapping of calm waves

Pushes back against the dryness

I am balanced now

I am confident

Sea and river combined
