Sea Chanty
My sailor went to sea on board,
A ship of weathered storms.
He went to fight the daemon horde,
To protect the awful* lord. *Awe-inspiring
His fealty was of honor bound,
He left me with a kiss.
I knew he would be safe and sound.
I never thought amiss.
The lord demands and he did go,
I knew not his return.
I hoped and prayed he’d live and know,
Of his wee babe I bore.
The day the little lad was born,
The waves did rage and merge.
My screams did mingle with the horn,
That sounded like a dirge.
The mid-wife gasped as horror-struck.
The babe cried out in sound.
I knew right then my sailor’s luck,
Had surely run aground.
The lord continued in his fight.
Our men did ne’er return.
The boys we loved would carry light,
And we are left to mourn.
My little lad he grows and grows.
His father’s not returned.
The sea it calls my baby boy,
I’m more afraid the lord.
The sea can be a cruel mistress.
She also should be heard.
The feudal lord will still aggress,
The frightful daemon horde.
He listens not to the great sea.
Her anger grows and grows.
One day she swept through terribly.
The lord did moan and groan.
The sea she took what she was due.
The lord was washed away.
She cleansed the town, washed it anew.
My boy is safe today.
