The Sea of Dirty Sheets
The night I drowned in the sea of dirty sheets,
is the night my trust died,
if only the night hadn't happened,
my soul might have survived,
maybe if I wasn't so afraid it could be revived,
maybe if I was stronger I would strive,
to keep my soul,
my broken soul,
alive.
But I am afraid and I am not strong,
because of the evil, because of the wrong
done to me.
Done to me
He brought me to his quarters, and threw me into the ocean where he dreams
his ocean where he swims with other maidens,
but I, afraid of the ocean, did not want to swim
But he grabbed me and disrobed me,
as I clawed and I screamed
And he grabbed at my thighs and lived his own dreams,
He dreamed we swam peacefully in his lovely ocean,
but in my unfortunate reality,
he proved my soul's mortality.
He smiled as he ignorantly dreamt
Fighting for my soul, under his body I wept.
I fought and I fought, but he never stopped,
and finally my last clawing hand gently dropped.
I lay still in this perverse oasis
he lay over me stealng every kiss.
When people ask the question, what is one thing in the world would you change?
Many would say a Sunday school answer,
like the gay marrige laws or the terror of cancer,
but if anyone would care to take a few beats,
they would hear me whisper,
"I would change the night I drowned in the sea of dirty sheets."
