Search The Beginning
I walked down to the beach
To see the tide turn seawards
Nothing was amiss
It was all quietly done,
There was no exceptional,
Slap or roar of the waves,
The receding waters left a stink,
That would soon fade.
Half expecting
Someone to emerge from the sea,
I sat on the protective wall,
Munching roasted groundnuts;
Faraway, I could see two catamarans,
Lower their sails.
I have come to the beach to unlearn the lessons,
I had learnt in haste,
I want to see the proverbial darkness,
That should be different from the darkness,
Of the darkest nights;
I shall stay at the beach till nightfall.
Darkness is the real beginning.
