searching for flowers

I collected many flowers for you

I even searched fields which I rarely went and knew nothing about

When you weren't home I'd secretly place them on the table for you.

You'd wonder where they came from because we were poor.

Not one cent did we have

nor were the nearest fields a days trip

by magic I'd reply.

But he didn't know I'd never slept

My weary eyes were always on the lookout for flowers

but not once did he try to find some for me.
