Searching For Something

Searching the room, I look for what?
A name, a face, a door unshut?
A place to hide, safe and secure?
Something to hold, to know for sure?
A way to cry but not to break?
A way to show I'm not so fake?
Someone to love, to trust, to face?
Someone who won't leave without a trace?
A thing to remember?
Something to treasure?
I think it's a memory.
A name to a face
A way to remember just who we'll replace
A love lost, a tear shed
A place where my cold heart can cry out to my head
A way to remember everything you said
Something to save myself from the confusion
of a heart aching, maybe breaking
Searching the room, I look for what?
I've forgotten, I'm looking for me.
