Seasonal Revelations
Warm in the summertime with cherry red lips
I guzzle water and try to fit my hands around my hips
I hide under my towel and you tell me what to do
The ocean waves draw me further into you
I sway and follow your every move
Asking myself when will I look the way you want me to
Freezing in the fall, I sip black coffee and green tea
You say "this instead of meals will make you free"
I cover myself in blankets and shake with terror
Trusting you was my biggest error
Dying in the winter I let the wind eat me
Convinced I am crazy, I cannot see what others see
I get lost until I glimpse at your perfect frame
Drawn back to my only claim to fame
I concentrate only on what you have to say
You seemed to grow stronger when I withered away
I fell asleep for a while and you disappeared
In my dream I saw everything that I had ever feared
Awakened in the spring I am no longer yours to keep
I finally eat but allow you to make me weep
I see the corruption and lies that compose you
I look behind me, what did you make me do?
I look again and you are gone
And then I was enlightened as if by the dawn
I did this to be thin like you too
But you were me and I was you
