Seasons

The frigid air outside

stings my skin

the same way your words

once stung my heart

and tears stung my eyes

But while a cold winter day

is a welcome break

from the overbearing heat

of summer

your words are never

something I look forward to

and one harsh day

always feels like an eternity

I wish you’d make up your mind

because I can't just wait

in the sun

for you to take away my light

and pour snow from the sky

So tell me,

do you want winter

or do you want summer
