Seasons Change

Why does the New Year start,

In the deadest season of them all?

The cold, sparkling snow melts

Delivering small, baby buds.

Mother Sun will help them grow

Watching them blossom into

Stunning flowery plants

Now they are ready and

Mother can rest

She watches them grow

From a farther distance

The leaves have more responsibilities

They create their own personalities

Fiery red, flashy yellow, blazing orange

Bright green, and confused brown

But now mother is farther away

She can’t protect them

The cold mocks them

Making them shiver with fear

The wind bullies them

Knocking them to the ground

The wind and cold rule the area

The animals are exiled to warmer places

The humans try to make the best of it

The stronger evergreen leaves get decorated for holidays

Everyone forgets the leaves

The sympathetic snow covers the innocent leaves

Erasing the horrific evidence

Leaving a blank, barren path

But the leaves will be back

Straight from heaven

Being born, growing, dying

The reincarnation of nature
