Seaward Call
The sea in all its majesty
Flows from Heart to soul
The crests rise in solemn oratory
And the waves roll
Never in my life did I see
Such humbling beauty
She the siren that sings
And weds me to this ring
This is Godly vocation
I in prayerful prostration
She, my path, and I the shipper
The Barque sails on ancient whispers
Guiding me through the pathless way
Calming me in Her sway
She consecrates me in holy prayer
I the priest look upon the Divine in Chair
The Ethereal Mirror reflected in my eyes
I listen to its swells and the gulls’ cries
I am not deaf to Her call
I am slave by Her enthralled
A seminarian studying Her sacred missal
A sailor bred and by current lulled
I go forth in world unknown
To live the life I have on loan
