A second chance

Sometimes a second chance is all you need...

You know, they say that first impressions are worth everything. So is it greedy of me to ask for you to look again? Im sorry that I wasnt the perfect canidate, but I promise that ill be better the second time around. Im not looking for sympathy, but life isnt always easy for me. So please, give me a second chance. My mother never went to college, her mother never finished high school and her mother never even bother going through elementary. So ofcourse, I lack the guidance I need. Now, dont get me wrong, my family's bond is very strong...and yes, my father is still around. They help me the best I can. But sometimes its not enough. So as the first in my family to go to college, the pressure is heavy and the commitment is tough. It was hard enough looking at my moms face when she saw my GPA. Yes, I tried in high school but defeat was hard to beat. So I am asking now for a second chance to become a woman. I am not another black face, I am not another little girl in poverty. I hold the tongue of a warrior and the strength of a goddess. So please look at me, speak to me and listen to what I have to say. A second chance is the only thing that I ask for today.
