The Second Death of Baldr

His face cried strength,

A facade of cool indifference,

invulnerable.

From behind his gleaming countenance

he suffered in silence,

laid low by a careless blow.

Though many offered thoughts and prayers,

and many shed their tears,

a legion of followers would not save him.

And so passed Baldr,

Succeeded by the shell of his public persona.
