A Second Look

Over the summer I needed a book,

and frantically asked around,

I never expected for her to look.

She arrived at my work, where no one drowned

she gave me my book and a coffee too,

I had never spoken to this person once, I had found.

She wore a backwards flower hat and no shoes,

I had never seen someone so beautiful

I wished I didn't have duties to attend to

It was love at first sight to be truthful,

I gave her my number, how cliche

I didn't know how she would react, but I was hopeful

I hoped that I wouldn't drive her away,

because I longed to see her again,

I was excited when she texted me, later that day

My feelings I could not explain,

I took her to dinner one night,

I hoped she wouldn't restrain

I thought maybe she just might,

be the one I had been looking for

I hoped I was right.

Nine months and hopefully more,

She had me hooked

The only one I love and adore.

One day a girl brought me a book

And I am happy because she gave me a second look.
