The Second Time We Met

Incapacitating pain only intensified, with every heartbeat and tear cried. Suffocating in the flood of past memories. Of how the two of us were always, *** Climbing trees and digging holes. Making wooden guns and shoelace fishing poles. Building tree houses from scrap wood. What ever we could find around the neighborhood. Playing full contact hide and seek. Fighting kids down by the creek. No matter what the situation. We had each others backs, no question. Only two years apart. Our bond was strong from the very start. Together all the time. The perfect partner's in crime. *** Mournful sorrow turned to agonizing guilt. For i had failed him on every level ever built. If i had been there when he most needed me. A different outcome our life could see. Mindful as the time before, Once again you led me through that door. We stood... Another superficial shroud, we did gaze. Tears, the only outward movement within the haze. My face drained of all color. At the sight of who I called brother. I stood With death... for the second time. And died a little more.
