This is a poem
From me to you
And him to her
And everyone in between

Do you ever think about the sound
A day makes as it crumbles down around you
I think about it quite often and I can say from experience that she has too
Nothing much has changed
Gravity still falls on my spine much the same as it did for her
And I'm sure it falls on you much as it did for him

And maybe one day another will look back on me the same way I look back on her and wonder
What has changed
But then again I'm no more than a breadth of a hair in the making
Before another slips into my skin
And the seconds chip away at my bones

So how is it that
We keep meeting
And talking
And laughing
And falling
As though our skin doesn't
Writhe and constrict
As though we are the same
When in reality we are constantly changing
And every time we meet it’s  a brand new introduction

And though I know she who inhabited my body before
I wonder about she who will slip into my shell after
Second to second
Where she sleeps and
What color her hair is and
What the last thing her lips touched was
And if her thoughts finally decided to be kind to her

Or if time took a chisel
To the stone of her mind
And cracked it open like a Geode

Maybe it did the same for you
Or him
Or whoever

Maybe the pills
Lead to hope and happiness
Or abuse and Addiction

Because as much as I wonder about the girl who will wear my skin
I am scared of her
Just as much as I wonder about who will wear yours
