I never understood why poetry had to contain six syllabic words or compare love to birds. I never understood why it had to include metaphors so deep and complex that even the writer no longer understands the true meaning. But they’ll never tell you.
I never understood why poets would spend a half an hour with their heads indulged in a thesaurus to transform the words "I love you" INTO there’s this certain desire and devotion I have for you that runs through my veins and to my vascular organ which pumps the hormone oxytocin which causes my sensations to affix to yours which then leads my mind to incline to you. I never got it.
I thought that yes you can view a glass of water as a refraction of light because of its entry into a more dense substance, but we can also view it as only a glass of water.
I used to think that it was all for show. I used to think that the poets would use their knowledge and extended vocabulary to shield the clarity of their life from all the strangers in the audience that they didn’t want to understand the full story. I used to think that homophones were a way to tell their secrets without telling their secrets andthat they would speed up the pace to a level you couldn’t understand and purposely put words that started with the same letter back to back to back so that everything slurred together to make sure you didn't quite catch what they said, but they snap anyway because they know it was something good and juicy... they just didn't know what exactly.
The twisted metaphors didn’t amuse me, they confused me. but now I understand. I understand now. so I can no longer just say I love you. I have to say there’s this certain desire and devotion I have for you that runs through my veins and to my vascular organ that pumps the hormone oxytocin which causes my sensations to affix to yours and leads my mind to incline to you; because now I understand, that secret that all poets are entitled to. But I don’t get everything yet.....
So this is the last time I will ask. You said...your girlfriend didn't leave you because she found someone better who treated her like she deserved realized she was more delicate than a feather and finally gave her the love that she wanted instead of the money that she didn't. You said she left you because the planets were out of line at the wrong time therefore her seasons changed unexpectedly therefore the leaves off of her tree of love mistakenly flew off and fell onto someone else property?...
