Secrets

Sitting in class smiling, behind the smile, I’m thinking ‘bout my mom whose dying Whining and dining trying to make money to keep her baby from dying Every night her dad crawling in her bed, her mama think she lying. So she beat her ‘til she bleeds I’m sorry mama she pleads! Promise me you won’t say anything so your daddy won’t leave Here it is I can’t say much Because my self esteem is shot What does my future hold When my mind, my spirit and soul is in such a rut I can’t tell grandma or grandpa, Nor auntie or uncle So I kneel and plead And bed God To set me free He says to me Don’t worry my child I am there with thee Stretch forth your hand Let me set you free I rose the next day Feeling fresh and new In the middle of the night Daddy withdrew To hell he went I know for sure Because God promise His sins will pay My momma cried And looked at me a strange way But I rejoiced in God Even today.
