Secrets Unkempt

It doesn’t seem possible that your parents are people

they are mom and dad, a living example

But one day things change

Suspicion is provoked and lies are discovered.

The first one to know is shocked and scared,

Knowing not who to turn to he sits with it alone

Finally he tells her, when she gets home

But she doesn’t believe it, there is no way,

But this is it, today is the day

Their childhood is over and things will never be the same

One moves out, one shuts down,

another must stand on her own two feet now

The little one is angry at how things have changed

He doesn’t want things to be the same

She makes lists, does chores, and goes to school

Parents are now children, petty and fools

Her childhood is over, even though there wasn’t much left

She knows that now after all of the secrets are unkempt
