See Me
Don't you see me? Is there anything else beside "we"?
I'm sick of being seen as an object.
You use and break and toy with me
and what scares me is how easily you do.
So I told you we were done
but you just can't let me go.
Both of us are angry, both of us are hurt.
I just wish you would stop behaving like its only you
that is always victim of a cruel, unjust world.
Lashing out at me will not fix this problem
not when I am your problem.
And I'm only your problem because you keep trying,
trying to fit me into this mold you've got of me but guess what?
That ain't me, its a porcelain doll.
One who can't feel, think, or act without your permission
And you have the nerve to call it love.
Your behavior proves it's not love, it's nothing but lust.
You can't accept the idea of me
without me being yours, a possession.
News flash, I'm nobody's plaything
I'm a strong, independent woman
who knows how she feels and what she wants
Sorry if that bruises your ego and your grandiose sense of self.
The world isn't out to get just you.
I've been used, abused, lied to, and bruised
My heart is covered in angry scars
don't make yourself the next one, we'll both be sorry
I know it.
But what you think we had wasn't love
It was an obsessive lust, and a status play
I'd say let's just be friends
But I don't think I can trust you with that
So I think it's best if you give me space
And try to just see me as me.
