See You Later

If I knew the last time, was the last time I would have done it all .... differently?

I would have Made you prouder
Held you longer

I would have warned you
That on August 13th around 11:30 pm
When you get off that plain from Florida Don’t Go home
Don’t go to sleep

Instead go straight to the hospital
Don’t pass go
don’t collect $200

Go and convince someone to admit you to the Intensive care unit

Convince someone that you do not need a straight jacket

you do not need a psychiatric evaluation

You need an echocardiogram
You need blood thinners
You need a CT scan
You need an MRI

Tell them ..... your gonna die
Tell them..... to cover their bases and prepare for either a heart attack

or a blood clot that has the possibility to move to your heart

Tell them .... your daughter isn’t ready your you to go
Tell someone that the last time you saw your daughter she was her high school graduation
And she was trying to play it cool around her friends

she pretended that her parents are embarrassing when inside she was so excited to see you again

Spend your last breath telling a psychiatrist and the two football sized orderlys holding you to a chair that the daughter that made you so proud was right

If I knew the last time, was the last time I would have done it all .... the same.

I would have wished you got home from Florida safely,
Lay your head on your pillow,
Dreaming of tomorrow,
And that your snoring would make the walls vibrate until your final breath,

If I knew the last time was the last time I would have said...

Goodnight Daddy
