From Seed and Bloom to Dried and Withered

I am a lazy lilly, slowly blooming.

Each day I unfurl myself a little more,

stretching out in the warmth of the sun.

I used to be a seed,

just struggling,

struggling,      and barely Surviving.

No more.

Now as I grow,

I find I mix beautifully with others,

roses and carnations, of different shApEs and colors…..

our differences do not matter.

The people I meet are my sun and water,

helping me grow to my full potential.

It is true that not all I meet are good to me,

but I know they have only helped to make me, me.

There will come a time when my growing shrinks,

when I will become small and whither.

I will be by my friends and children,

the stories of my life will become their sun and water.

My highlights and lows will be their lessons,

teaching as I taught from seed and bloom to dried and withered.

Always helping.

They will know I did not want the spotlight,

the background was always my comfy place.

Everyone needs someone to lean on,

look back at,

Remind them they are beautiful.

A flower to remind them what is precious,

that life is short and beauty is fleeting.

What could be a nobler fate?
