The Seed, The Sun, and The Need

When the day awakens

So does the sun.

Our breath is taken

When the hour has begun.

We begin a new life each morning

Choose not to waste it away.

Like an eagle taking wing

We determine our pathway.

"Pick and choose!" they say,

"The most of which your heart desires!"

Do you wish night over day?

What is the water to your fire?

What do we request?

Some say wealth and prosperity

Others jest

Not making life a priority.

Unwise choices are made

A deadly cost

A life is well paid

Only to be lost.

When the day ends

So does the sun

Creeping below the bend

Its life is nearly done.

Let a voice wail;

"Let me see the sun before I die!"

"So that I may know my life was without fail"

Only to be answered by the wind passing by

What do we want?

What do we need?

Haven't we been taught

Life starts as a seed?

To be greater than the least

Success is the path to go

Like a great big oak tree

We wish to grow.

Our life is like the sun.

We must shine to increase

Before our lives are done

And sets in the east.
