Seedlings of Winter

Cold dreary winter days

so true to what lies

within my soul.

Decisions made of summer

and fall,

bring forth graveness.

My soul is turning

the color of winter.

I watch the destruction of those

I care for-near and distant.

It was preventable I know.

If only.

That phrase again and again.

Yes, if only my decisions

had followed what I

knew to be true.

But no, it is fitting.

I die inside

as I destroy those

around me!

But I ask,

is it worse for those

I have left in my wake,

or those with me now?

I so embrace the coldness.
