Seeing Past the Storm

It's been said that the eyes are the window of the soul. Each of us having a pair which have taken us through all walks of life.
One can read a lot about a person through their eyes.
They can express emotion or attention,
be wide with inquisitive innocence,
filled with tears of turmoil.
They can be awake with awareness,
even wrinkled with wisdom.
It is when eyes have witnessed the ugliest of hardships that they can appreciate the beauty of overcoming distress.
Disaster.
Adversity.
After all, the pupils within our eyes are resilient enough to adjust themselves, even when they encounter harsh, fulgent light.
There will always be something within us which tells us to use our eyes to keep looking ahead toward a more luminous future, instead of the sometimes dark and troubled past which lies behind us.
As they say, keep your eyes on the prize. Don't let your past define you, but instead alter your vision to view things in a different light.
When life becomes the eye of the storm,
use your own eyes to find the sunshine that is soon to follow.
