Seeking Stones

I walk the path with eyes cast down the ground
Outside I stand but the air waits in lull
Seeking all stones until you have been found
Yet the passing of time exposed the dull

A moment at once so close yet so far
Speaking my words I wonder if you hear
Engraved your name shows the final last scar
One last embrace before you disappear

Disguised as a sign your wordless greeting
Discernible your presence at my side
Unexpected and brief unseen meeting
Vanished yet waits as the shore does the tide

I kneel beside your stone in the clover
With the ease I know you’re watching over
