Seen
Growing up I learned that children were to be "seen and not heard"
That lesson spilled over into many areas of my life where I was often seen but not heard.
I often found myself in unfavorable situations; abused and misused.
Eventually I started choking on unspoken words.
My thoughts were too deep to share with a therapist and often times I turned to
my wrist.
I grew tired of the same ol story. I needed a new story.
Writing became my therapy, my diary.
I had so many thoughts, feelings, and emotions that were queued in my brain.
I decided that I was going to be heard in some way.
I was determined to fight the burden that weighed on my chest.
And in time, I was freed from the undenyable grip of my silence.
Fighting with relentless violence.
I will be seen.
I will be heard.
