Seen and Not Heard
I want to scream until my lungs hurt.
But, I have to remain quiet because that is what young girls are expected do.
We’re supposed to be seen and not heard.
All of my life I have been told to be seen and not heard.
My struggles stay inside although my throat has become sore from holding them back.
I fear if I voice my hurt it will all stay the same.
So I remain forever seen and not heard.
