Segregation...or Integration?

Segregation should never have happened

I wish I could go back and change the way that white people looked at black people

Like they were dogs, or ants beneath our feet

I wish I could undo all the killings that happened because of segregation

Then civil rights came along

But it still didn't change anything

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said blacks and whites are equal, that God created us as equals, and it is true

The white people were the hypocrites, not the black people

Black people are not slaves, they are human

He would have been proud though today

To see that indeed our generation followed through

Some people are still racist

But the laws have been tossed aside, a long time ago

They should have never been in effect in the first place

Segregation was stupid

And it hurt a lot of people, physically and emotionally

Civil rights are just the right way to do things

We are all human

We are not creatures

God doesn't care about the color of our skin

So neither should we.
