Sehnsucht

Oh what a dishonesty to my soul The day I sold goodness for their glances I dream of angels But dance with demons Wishes float into gossamer mist Darkness seals the brightest dusk Red tears of missing Not for you only for me A night to remember A day to depart All the things to sell Faust whispered those small warnings Shatter a heart All the wickedness I see Longing for a better day With hands stained from the dust Nails and thorns Lies and truths Emptiness to partake No matter how much I hope Words laid down for time to pass Final rest of a restless sort On the distant horizon Stars sing of glitter Soft waves of mercy Glass as far as the eye can see What a lie this shadow was At last for me What I have waited for Sehnsucht at last appeased Authors note: Sehnsucht is a German word meaning an intense longing for something unknown
